Rhythm games are a big thing in Japan, almost everybody in Japan has played one or more rhythm games in the many arcade halls in his or her life. When you think of rhythm games you think of the game Rhythm Heaven or Rhythm Paradise as we know the game here in Europe. The game was well received in japan in 2015 but on october 21 2016 the game will finally release in Europe.
On first sight Rhythm Paradise Megamix is a very simple game, it features a bunch of simple but fun rhythm games pushed in a crazy story. This time you help Tibby a cute creature that fell from the sky and begs for your help to return him to his homeland “Heavenland”. In order to return to Heavenland Tibby has to go to the highest point in the area to climb back inside. On your journey you will meet a variety of super crazy creatures and to get past them you have to play and get a good score in 4 different rhythm mini-games.
The rhythm games are super crazy and super diverse. Most of them are controlled with one button but don’t get fooled. these game are not easy. You have to listen to the rhythm of the beat in order to score points. The visuals you see while playing the game are just a small reference but music is essential to get a decent highscore.Every game is about hitting the beat, keeping a rhythm or repeating it but they all feel and play very differently. The settings where the minigames take place are very different from eachother but they all look amazing and are very funny.
You pull hairs out of an onion and the next mini-game you try to catch falling fruit. Rhythym Paradise Megamix is super crazy and that is what makes this game so amazing and fun to play. Every mini-game feels different and keeps you hooked.In the beginning of the game the mini-games are rather easy but while the game progresses it gets harder and harder. Lucky for us every time you play a mini-game for the first time you get a quick tutorial and receive the chance to practice the game. The mini-games are hard but in my eyes just hard enough that you don’t end up frustrated. If you do end up stuck on a level the game will give you a helping hand to get past the one super annoying part.
Early conclusion:
Rhythm Paradise Megamix is like every Rhythm paradise game, but that is a good thing. When I started playing i thought I would get bored after a few sessions but was hooked immediately. Little Tibby is not home yet so me and him have a long journey ahead of us so only time will tell if I keep my Rhythm fever.
