Indie Corner: Go! Go! Kokopolo 3D

Go! Go! Kokopolo 3D is a game unlike others, the official genre is called chase ’em up and if you are unfamiliar with it, you are in for a weird treat!

Originally being a small game on the Nintendo DS, this game got a sequel for the 3DS and I loved every bit of what I played so far. This game is crazy, it is based on crazy gameplay, basically, you run through maze-like levels, trying to get your enemies to chase you around, the only way to defeat them, is to let a plant eat them. The plant can also eat you, so do beware, jump over it or lose!

At first, the levels are easy and the enemies are easily attacked and they will gladly start chasing you to the plant, but as you gradually pass the levels, things can get really hard, ranging from difficult mazes to more and more annoying enemies. But that is exactly where the fun lies in this game. It gets you hooked before becoming harder!

At one point, you add ice parts and one-way roads to the mazes, adding specific runways to finish a game and to beat your enemies.

Do not underestimate how hard it really can be, though, as I took it way too casual at first, I often found myself stuck in a level figuring out the way back to the plant, rather than how to make my enemies chase after me… All adding to the fun of this game really.

As you advance through levels, you also end up battling bosses, some can be a pain in the ass, but the game does provide you with some nice clues on how to beat them, the first boss, it literally shows you when to beat him, not how, but when… If you play this game yourself, my bad description will make sense, I promise….

Over the course of 80 stages, you will find yourself amused by the weirdness of this game, the hyperactive hero, the wildcat Kokopolo or one of his buddies are tracking down a recipe for immortality and causing as much mischief as possible in this arcade style game.

Provided the very cheap price of this game and the fun I have had so far, I would say this game provides a great bang for its buck!

In conclusion, this weird game is well worth the pick up for either a casual run or a full blown gaming session. The diversity of the option throughout the game are cool and I hope you will love the game as much as I did.
