Opinion: The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch is unbelievable

During the Nintendo E3 2019 Direct, one of the most unexpected games by far was The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition coming to Nintendo Switch this year. Now, there were a lot of rumors of the game making an appearance on Nintendo’s console but actually seeing it revealed during the Nintendo Direct is pretty amazing.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Now, in order to truly understand the scale of this new Nintendo Switch announcement, we have to look at what The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt actually is. It’s an extremely big open world game filled with side-quests, monsters, mini-games, and interesting characters to meet. This isn’t a game you easily clear in a couple of hours, a game like this demands a lot of time to complete and it’s far bigger than let’s say The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

We already heard a lot of rumors of the game making its way to the portable Nintendo system but those were hard to believe, simply because nobody believed the Nintendo Switch was able to pull this off. How could an inferior portable console pull off a stunning open-world 4K game? Well, CD Projekt RED certainly believed in it and they announced it during the E3 2019 Direct. Switcher 3 is real and it’s looking amazing all things considered.

The Nintendo Switch port

In the Nintendo Direct, there wasn’t a lot of time to showcase how The Witcher 3 looks like on Nintendo Switch but on the official Witcher YouTube channel, we can witness the game in all its glory, as you can see here:

Needless to say, yes, there’s a visual downgrade, especially when seen in handheld mode, but does that really matters? It’s the Witcher 3 on a console you can carry around anywhere you want so the adventure never needs to stop! What’s also important to note is that this is a Complete Edition, meaning you’ll most likely also get the extra DLC expansion in the bundle. For those unaware, those are some expansion including a lot of extra gameplay hours. CD Projekt RED knows how to treat its fans and those expansions are some of the best that ever appeared in a game. It’s still unbelievable to truly grasp the scale of this game, especially on a console like the Nintendo Switch. Sure, Nintendo fans will have to deal with lesser graphics but the gameplay won’t change because of this. Judging on the trailer, the game still looks incredibly good and I’m sure a lot of new gamers will fall in love with the gorgeous universe of The Witcher 3 in mere seconds.
