Welcome to our preview of Little Nightmares 2, the second Little nightmares game is nearly upon us and my body is ready for Halloween season.
I am a big fan of Little Nightmares 1 and the first time I heard the second game was coming, I was thrilled (pardon the pun) and really looking forward to this day. Despite only being able to play a small part of the game through a demo, I was instantly thrown back into the delightful horror/puzzle game that is Little Nightmares. I immediately remembered why I ever bought a sealed collectors edition of this game and never opened it till today. This game series is amazing.
For the second game, I had access to the level called hospital, at this stage of the game players have already learned most of the mechanics and are aware of what to do. As it had been a while since my last game, it did take me a little while to get back into the game. Not meaning this in a bad way but more about getting used to the button layout on my PC controller.
Little nightmares too it’s all about exploration without getting caught and try again when failing. right from the bat, the two characters are in the middle of a hospital room and it is clear you need to get out by running up the stairs, entering the open door, running through the aisle all while avoiding any possible enemies. The first real enemy comes right after when you try to make it across a room in order to advance the story of course.
The silly part here is that it took me so long to figure out I just had to run across the enemy and jump up the cabinets and climb up. All this happened because the enemy, in this case, a hand, dropped parts of the arm (of the prosthetic limb it was a part of ) And I always thought I just had to pick it up, use it to smash the prosthetic hand. But no, I only died like 20 times trying to get my weapon I’m failing every time.
This is exactly why I love this game, the intensity, the sheer desire to find the solution, the irritations when I’m not finding that simple way to advance, ah, I love this game. Just in the preview alone, I had this burning feeling inside to keep playing even when the demo was over, one thing to use more hammers to smash enemies, and so on.
The timing of this game it’s obviously great with Halloween season ahead of us and for added effect, I actually played it at night with the lights off and I must say that was awesome. As this is just a preview, I knew I wouldn’t have many hours of gameplay but the sneak peek I was given is more than promising and it makes me want the game already.
Little Nightmares 2 might be one of those games that takes the spotlight, even with so many big AAA titles that are inbound. I really wonder how it will hold up when I get the full version, but if there is going to be a collectors edition, you can bet I’m buying it for my collection. Now allow me to go back to the demo and replay everything just because it’s that great.
