Review: Omno

Welcome to our review of Omno, another gem to hit Game Pass and once again making the service the go to place!
The indie game OMNO is a third-person adventure by solo developer Jonas Manke. It will take you through lush forests, across a sun-blasted desert, over a frigid tundra, and the power of a lost civilization will even carry you to the clouds. On the way, you will meet strange creatures, encounter many surprises and maybe make a friend.

Besides offering an interactive world, Omno challenges you with puzzles, hidden secrets, and obstacles to overcome in 3D puzzle platformer style.

As this game was released on Game Pass, it was a no-brainer that I was going to be trying this game, and boy, was I surprised how cool and yet unappealing it is at the same time. I must say that it caught me by surprise how little information was given on how to play, no tutorial, nothing, you are just thrown into the game without any sort of background and my first impression was that I was playing a Pokemon game, gotta encounter all the beings in this new game right?

But then I started encountering puzzles, one more beautiful than the other and I was not even impressed by them, they are not the hardest of puzzles and somewhat established puzzle lovers will easily see through all of them but that is actually ok. It is more the endeavor behind the puzzle. Like triggering a block to be raised in order to get another one in reach.

The puzzles all just fit and before you know it, you are an hour into the game, just enjoying the views and trying to get through to the next world of puzzles. This is the best part of the game actually, the ability to pass the “level” without going for 100%. You do not need to do everything on the screen, just enough and you move on. Not just moving on like in a video game, no, you move to the next part in pure Omno style. On top of a big dinosaur-like animal or using your staff to ski.

Everything about this game just screams simplicity but yet, it is gorgeous. As an avid lover of the genre, I have played many better games, really, but none that were so charming and endearing as this one. I know I am sounding a little contradictory compared to my usual self. I tend to prefer gameplay over graphics, but for once, I will give due credits where credits are due.

Omno is a very decent yet pretty puzzle game and what is most important, another proof as to why you need to get your subscription of game pass activated and do give this a try!

In conclusion, Omno is a cute little game that should get its spotlight and I hope it will! I loved it and just play it already!
