Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection includes critically acclaimed, globe-trotting single player exploits from Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, remastered in stunning detail for the PS5 console with improved visuals and framerate.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End: Several years after his last adventure, retired fortune hunter Nathan Drake, is forced back into the world of thieves. Fate comes calling when Sam, Drake’s presumed dead brother, resurfaces seeking his help to save his own life and offering an adventure Drake can’t resist.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy: In order to recover an ancient artifact and keep it out of the hands of a ruthless warmonger, Chloe Frazer must enlist the aid of renowned mercenary Nadine Ross and venture to India’s Western Ghats to locate the Golden Tusk of Ganesh. In Chloe’s greatest journey yet, she must confront her past and decide what she’s willing to sacrifice to forge her own legacy.

Uncharted is in itself a massive gaming franchise with hundreds of awards across all its game and Uncharted 4 being Game of The Year in multiple categories, it is a prime example of how a video game can really capture your attention and prevent you from sleeping at a normal hour. It is a great game that is even getting a live-action movie starring Tom Holland. Personally, I always thought that Nathan Drake somewhat resembled the mix between Hawkeye and Nathan Fillion of Castle/Firefly/The Rookie fame. But I can stand behind the choice of Tom Holland, I just wonder how the movie will incorporate all the impressive parkour.

That is the main game system behind the Uncharted games, finding your way to the goal by using your surroundings to their advantage, whether you are Nathan Drake or the lovely Chloe Frazer, you jump your way from one death-defying experience to the next. Obviously, most of you already know this as you have played at least a few Uncharted games before, right? Well, personally speaking, I was an exception to that statement, despite actually owning them all, I never really played them more than half an hour. On my Vita actually, that is where I played the Abyss game and how far the series has come ever since.

In this new collection and I feel I am rehashing my words from the Ghost of Tsushima review, it is kind of funny that the best looking games on the PlayStation 5 all appear to be upgraded games from the past generation. Yes, games like Godfall and Ratchet look stunning, but they are not of the “realistic” type that these Uncharted games are. Both games are incredibly crisp and prime examples of what the console is able to do, though, at the same time, I am dying to see what a game like Ghostwire will do.

What was really impressive in this new version, was how smooth the camera works and how sly it just performs. You almost feel like you are immersed in the action by physically being there. Well, without the adrenalin of jumping from ledge to ledge, heck, my fear of heights was tested a few times by both games, proving to me how good they are.

Another thing this collection made me realize, is that I really should spend some time playing the other games. I got the feeling that I really missed out on them and that is high praise. Well, it should be said that this collection is a massive hit in my book. Not only looking pretty and playing great, the choice of these two specific titles for an upgrade, I can only applaud it.

Now is there also something wrong with the upgrade? Well, maybe a few minor points, at times the camera reacts too well, which leads to a moving camera while you are performing high-end parkour moves and they may be distracting for some? Also, Chloe sometimes looks like she is a mean woman, her facial expressions often made me think she was one big bad mean btch…. I must probably be dreaming, but it was kind of funny at times.

In conclusion, a great upgrade for two great games, if you have not played them already, go to your local brick and mortar game store and buy it! If you already played it before, I would still recommend them if you have the time to thoroughly enjoy them once more.
